Day One, Laying Out a Fresh Start

Today I met with Josh early, hiked around a bit and got a rough idea of what I wanted to do, and, after procuring some flags, laid out a rough path.
Looking uphill along the proposed path, there are some flags in the lower left corner

After flagging out a path, I went to the other patches of trail that I am working on, and flagged them.
This section is normally on the right side of the picture, but I've proposed to go more toward the left of the frame.
The trail here goes over the rocks in the middle right of the picture, but it would instead go next to the tree 3rd in from the left

For a lot of the trail, it will not be bikeable for a while, as there will need to be a lot of material brought in, but I am trying to lay out a good framework, over a large area, not finish small sections and only get 100 yards of trail done. That being said I worked on raking out the parts I leaf blew, as to get down to dirt, so that it would be easier to follow.
This is the beginning of the trail, after I raked it at the end of the day.

  2. This is a really cool project Ethan, that others will be fortunate enough to use too when it is completed. Great idea! I am glad the bugs are not too bad right now.
